How to make delicious Aloo Paratha
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup mashed potatoes
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Water, as needed
- Ghee or oil, for cooking
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and enough water to make a soft dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, cumin seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll out each ball into a small circle using a rolling pin.
- Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of the dough circle. Bring the edges of the dough together and seal the filling inside. Flatten the ball slightly.
- Dust the stuffed ball with some flour and roll it out gently into a circle, around 6-7 inches in diameter.
- Heat a tawa or griddle on medium heat. Place the rolled-out paratha on the hot griddle. Cook for a minute or until the surface starts to bubble.
- Flip the paratha over and cook for another minute. Spread some ghee or oil on the surface and flip again. Cook until both sides are golden brown.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling to make more parathas.
- Serve hot with some yogurt, pickle, or chutney.
Enjoy your delicious homemade aloo parathas!
